Samsung Patents Contact Lenses With a Tiny Built-in Camera

The future has already arrived. With miniaturisation of electronic circuits and devices, we don’t know what possibilities these tech-giants have in store for us. Google, Sony and Samsung have been working on contact lenses with incredible features which will transform our lives in the near future.

Smart Contact LensesSamsung has been granted a patent in South Korea for smart contact lenses intended for augmented reality content. The lenses are equipped with a built-in camera and sensors that can be controlled simply by blinking. Content is sent to your smartphone through embedded antennas. This is where the data is processed.

With this development, Samsung joins Google in the arena, who also owns two patents for smart contact lenses. Google’s contact lenses are mainly intended for medical use, with sensors and flexible electronics to read tear fluid chemicals to determine blood sugar levels.
